Leaving on a jet plane..

I am off to LA! I am leaving tomorrow morning, my flight is at 10.25 am! It's going to be a long day tomorrow, I am on a plane for around ten hours, then I have to change my clocks minus eight hours, get a coach to Santa Barbara and then go straight out to see some films at the Santa Barbara Film Festival! I can't deal with lack of sleep so I will try and get as much as I can on the plane although I also want to watch some films! I haven't been to the US since I was 12! I remember the in-flight entertainment was gradually getting better and you could actually pick out of lots of films and apparently they now have television programmes! This excites me as when I was younger they had about five films to choose from!

I am really looking forward to having a holiday, I last went away in July but it feels like ages away! This is also my first time on a plane on my own! I know I'm going with college but I won't have my parents to help me! I'm literally terrified of how I'm going to get my suitcase of the conveyor belt as I have the upper body strength of a five year old child. I think it will be good for me to experience it in the way that I am. It is such an amazing opportunity and I'm so glad I didn't chicken out! We are doing some amazing things that I would not be able to experience on a normal holiday. We are going to see lots of films at the Santa Barbara Film Festival, go to a panel, (where the directors, producers and actors sit at those long tables and answer questions) we are going to Sony Studios, Venice Beach, a tour of the stars houses and also a "Leonardo DiCaprio Tribute" I have no clue what this is but anything with Leonardo DiCaprio in it sounds okay to me.

I was close to chickening out, I know barely anyone on the trip and I am possibly the most socially awkward person in the world ever, I'm not even joking. But I'm just going to try my best, there are only 20 people going and you always have to stay in groups of three so someone will be lumbered with me in their group! ;)

I also think it will be a great opportunity for me to have a rest, I literally get a holiday where I don't have to worry about what time I have to be at work or if I have an essay due in. I am just spending a week in an amazing city. I feel really run down and generally down in the dumps lately so I think it will be really nice to just get away from everything and everyone. The hotel is amazing, as it is a college trip I was expecting some awful hotel but the one we are staying in has an olympic size swimming pool (I hate swimming and water but "olympic size swimming pool" sounds cool so I'm going with it..) and a jacuzzi! It also has a gym, I was considering taking my gym gear but my aim for this trip is to try and come across as normal as I can and waking up at 5am to exercise may make me look like a mad woman. (I'm still packing my trainers though..)

There will be no posts up by me in the week so I will see you in a week! I will take a ton of pictures as I always do so you can see what I get up to!

See you when I get back!

January Favourites 2013!

Hi everyone! So this post is going to be my favourites for the month of January, I'm aware this is a tad early but I'm going on holiday on Thursday morning and won't be able to put it up until I get back the week after! So, here are the products I have been loving!

PS. Sorry the photos are terrible quality, I was working over the weekend so couldn't take photos in a decent light!

Simple rich moisturizer
I had previously been using Olay moisturizer because my Mum used it, however I have extremely dry skin so it just wasn't cutting it! My sister recommended Simple skincare as she said it didn't react badly with her skin. I have been LOVING this moisturizer so much, I would 100% recommend it for dry skin and there is another version that is not quite as thick.

Rimmel Wake Me Up Foundation
I put off buying this for ages because I didn't really *need* another foundation. But I am always on the lookout for a new one I thought "why not?!" as I seem to do with all my purchases..I absolutely love this foundation so much! I always thought high end foundations would be better because you're paying more but I am so impressed with this foundation and love it more than most of my high end ones! I can do a full review if you would like it!

YSL Touche Eclat
I rediscovered this product this month, I use it over the top of my concealer under my eyes as it really brightens up my under eye area. Especially when I haven't had much sleep!!

Rimmel Pressed Power
I originally bought this years ago but in the translucent shade, I really didn't like the translucent shade as it made me look even paler and I looked almost dead! But I purchased this in the non-translucent shade and I really love it! It doesn't cling to the dry parts of my skin and it just gives a really nice finish!

What products have you been loving this month?

My Mac Palette

Hello! So I thought I would show you guys the shadows that I have in my MAC quad. I stayed over my friends house and these were the shadows I decided to take with me.

Hepcat - I didn't actually choose this shadow. My Dad was in LA when he saw a MAC store and asked me what I wanted. (I mentioned the fact I trained my family to text me when they see a MAC store in my 100 facts post!) I asked for three shadows and the sales assistant told him to buy a quad and four shadows to fill it. So I picked three (all that glitters, mulch and stars and rockets!) and he picked out hepcat! It actually is something I would pick! I really like this shadow! I use it with Cranberry and also with Stars and Rockets!

Mulch - This is definitely one of my favourite eyeshadows of all time! I use this all the time! It is so beautiful and as with most MAC eyeshadows, it is super pigmented!

Omega - In the pan, this looks really light! But I actually use this on my brows! I also use it in the crease sometimes! I think this is perfect for my brows, I have blonde hair so it's often hard to find a shadow to fill my brows with as I always seem to end up with brows that look way to dark for my hair! But Omega is perfect for my brows!

Cranberry - I put off buying this for ages as I didn't really think I needed it. But I was in the mood to just buy something, so I bought it and I'm so glad I did! It's just the prettiest colour and it's so beautiful! I know a lot of people want to buy this but haven't bought it yet and I seem to have persuaded a lot of people to buy it! Whoopsss! But I would totally recommend it!

Do you guys have any MAC shadows you like and would recommend? A girl can never have too many shadows.. :)

Wishlist #13

1. Michael Kors Rose Gold Watch
I already have the a similar version of this watch but it's quite a lots smaller, I have had my eye on the larger version for a while as I think it would be nice to alternate between the two! I would 100% recommend Michael Kors watches as I wear mine everyday!

2. River Island Duck Skirt
This skirt has Georgina written all over it. Animal print, check. Above the knee skirt, check. Ducks, check. I am so in love with it! I have vouchers for River Island that I got for Christmas and went into my local store but they didn't have this! I will keep searching for it!
3. Nars Sheerglow Foundation
This has been on my wishlist for ages! I never order foundations online as I don't tend to like guessing shades, I don't live near anywhere that has a Nars counter so I am waiting until I go to the US and seeing if they have it there!

4. Urban Decay Naked Basics Palette
Everytime I go onto my blogger dashboard there seems to be a review for this product! I haven't owned the Naked or the Naked 2 palette so am dying to try this! Maybe when I go to the US I will see if they have it, or I will eventually pick up one of the Naked palettes!

5. Prada Tote Bag
*sigh* this is on my birthday list but at over £1000 I am 110% I am not getting it. Maybe this will be my first purchase when I get a proper paycheck!

6. Levi Shorts
I have been on the hunt for a certain pair of shorts, I have them in my head. Tight around the waist but them loose around the leg area. I went to a Levi outlet store and the girl working there has the perfect shorts but the only shorts they actually sold were 35 inch waist which I think are a tiny bit big for my 23 inch waist! Haha! I am hoping I can find a Levi store when I go to the US as they are SO much cheaper there!

7. Topshop Petite Dress
I love Topshop (mainly because I get staff discount teehehe!) because they sell small sizes! I tend to shop in the Petite section as that goes down to a size 4 which is the size that fits me and no other shops seem to do it! *sigh* I love this dress as its simple but cute!

8. Jeffrey Campbell Lana's
I am so in love with my Jeffrey Campbell Lita's and would love the Lana's! These are the ones I am planning on purchasing next!

I am currently emailing a few girls who are going to be guest posting on my blog, I have an exam next week and then am going to try and relax for a while after that! I then go away to LA on the 31st January (I think I mentioned it a bit too much in this blogpost! Whooops!) so won't be blogging then although I may try and schedule a few posts to go up when I'm away! I thought I would ask a few people to guest post while I'm revising/relaxing in the next few weeks! If you would like to guest post just email me at livelaughlipstick@live.co.uk or tweet me @georginalucyy and you can! I am pretty open to what you can blog about so long as it fits within my blog, but I will accept most topics! I love having guest bloggers as I get to know them and their blog more and you guys can find new blogs to follow!

Have you been lusting after anything lately?

The Best of 2012!

I want to apologise for the fact that this is really late! My laptop broke so I haven't been able to put it up! But eventually, here are the products I loved in 2012!

The best foundation
Mac Face And Body - You can read a full review here but in short, this foundation is great for my dry skin, buildable coverage and doesn't break me out like so many other foundations! Hoorah!

The best concealer
Collection (2000) Lasting Perfection Concealer - This stuff is just amazing and it's so cheap! I'm on my third one! It is amazing for under the eyes and on blemishes, doesn't dry my skin out and is just amazing!

The best powder
L'oreal True Match Powder - This is my absolute favourite powder and I have used about 5 of these! I love that it adds a bit more coverage on top of your foundation, it's not really powdery so your skin looks dry. I really like a matte finish, which can be hard to achieve on my skin without it looking insanely dry!

The best highlighter
MAC MSF Soft and Gentle - I think you're probably bored of me going on about this! I absolutely love it, it's not too glittery, it just adds the perfect shimmer! Review here.

The best blusher
MAC Warm Soul Blush - Read a full review here. This has been one of the only blushers I actually wore in 2012. It is just so natural yet so beautiful on the skin!

Best Contour
Sleek Contour Kit - I tried Hoola by Benefit but found it to be too reddy! This is just natural and works so well on my fair skin!

Best Lipstick
Estee Lauder Crystal Baby - I bought this lipstick ages ago when I got paid for the first time! I use this whenever I want to wear a lipstick but don't want to deal with the hassle! It is really soft and easy to apply, I have really dry lips and this doesn't highlight any of my dryness!

Best Mascara
Soap and Glory Thick and Fast - I really got into Soap and Glory cosmetics in the second half of 2012. I really love their products, especially this mascara! It makes your lashes look super long and super thick without them looking clumpy!

Best Eyeliner
Soap and Glory Supercat - I love using this for doing a bold cat eye! It's perfect! The brush is really precise and perfect for the job!

Best Eyeshadow(s)
MUA Undressed Palette - I loved this in 2012, it has such a great range of shadows. They are super soft and last all day! I could honestly just use this palette!

What products did you love in 2012? I always love to try new products! :)

How To: Baileys Cheesecake!

After I posted my Christmas post a few people asked me for the recipe for the Baileys cheesecake! This was so easy to make and was also really quick! It went down really well with everyone on christmas day! I don't drink and am not a huge fan of Baileys anyway but I really enjoyed this! It wasn't strong at all!

Ingredients
150 g unsalted butter
300 g biscuits (I used digestives with chocolate chips!)
 800 g cream cheese (I used philadelphia)
100 ml Baileys
 120 g icing sugar
300 ml double cream

1. Melt the butter in a saucepan.

2.Crush the biscuits and add to the melted butter until completely absorbed.

3. Press the mixture into the bottom of a lined 9inch tin.

4. Leave this to set for one hour in the fridge.

5.In a bowl whip the double cream until it forms soft peaks.

6. In a separate bowl beat the cream cheese until soft, then mix in the icing sugar and Baileys.

7.Fold in the whipped cream to the mixture and put in evenly into the tin.

8. Refrigerate for at least two hours.

9.Decorate with whatever you choose! I used maltesers, buttons and flake!

How to be money savvy!

As it is now 2013 (scary!) and lots of people have thought of new years resolutions, I thought I would help some of you! I know a lot of people aim to be better at saving money so I thought it would be a good idea to write a post to help! I have nothing in particular to save for, although I would love an Ipad! However I know my friends are saving for holidays, my sister is saving so she can buy a new house in a few years and a wedding (my sister got engaged on new years eve eve! Her boyfriend was going to propose on New years eve, a year to the day they found out they were pregnant, but he couldn't wait! Aww!) to prepare for! Here are a few of my tips for being savvy with your money!

Image from Tumblr

Establish the difference between want and need - Although sometimes it is good to buy things you just want,(the other day I bought a new bag, I didn't need one but sometimes it's nice to treat yourself!) you really need to think about a few things. Are you going to use/wear this item? Is this worth your money? I went shopping with my cousin the other week and we went into a store, she picked up two peplum tops in different colours and bought them, she told me she already had them in about 5 different colours so she wanted more. However once she purchased them she said "I don't think I really needed that." Something I do in shops is try everything on. Literally everything I like the look of I try on, however when I find things I like and that fit I sit down and consider whether I would wear something and whether it is worth the price.

Imagine your bank balance in your head - I constantly know how much money I have. If I'm shopping and I am going to spend £50 in Topshop for example, I will think "okay, I have £960 in my bank and it will go down to £910 if I buy this, do I have enough for the other items I want to buy?" I never buy anything if I can't afford it. I always imagine what my bank balance will be if I buy items, that way I always know how much I have left to spend!

Image from Tumblr
If you want to save, set a limit each month - I always do this, although I am slightly obsessive with saving. If I just got paid and have £1000 in my bank, I will set a limit, for example. "This month I cannot go below £700." It just means that if something goes wrong or my work messes up my pay for the next month, I always have something to fall back on. Each month I increase the limit, so the next month I might not go below £750, therefore you are saving up more and more money gradually! I don't understand when people get paid £200 a month for example and spend it all so the next month they get paid £200 and the cycle continues!

Keep receipts and write down purchases - Sometimes you don't realise how much you spend on tiny menial items! When I write down everything I buy, I notice that I spend a lot of money in Costa and Starbucks, which adds up each month! So by simply not going to Starbucks just because I'm a bit bored, I'm saving money!

Those are just a few of my tips! Obviously some people may not agree with them or want to do it differently, which is cool, each to their own!
