Summer Makeup

Having just got back from my holiday, my makeup choices have changed ever so slightly. Being out in the sun means my skin is a lot better and I reach for something lighter in coverage as well as less makeup on my eyes. For my skin I started using the Laura Mercier Tinted Moisturiser after hearing so many great things about it, I tend to wear full coverage foundations as I prefer my skin to look "perfect" so I was unsure as to whether I would like this at all. However, I love it. Even for a tinted moisturiser the coverage is great and my skin doesn't look much different to when I wear a full coverage foundation, apart from seeming more glowy and healthier looking. I wasn't expecting to like this as much as I do but it's definitely going to stay in my makeup bag for the foreseeable future! During the day it's important to wear an spf, even if your foundation or tinted moisturiser has spf in it,  this one from Benefit is perfect and fits in my bag! To set my tinted moisturiser I use the Hourglass Ambient Lighting Powder in Dim Light, this makes your skin look healthier and also doesn't make your face look cakey, it still looks like your skin and is very natural. I then like to add a highlighter to the tops of my cheekbones, my favourite is the Mac Mineralize Skin Finish in Soft and Gentle, this is amazing and such a pretty champagne colour.

On my eyes is a new palette I've been trying, a nude palette of course. The Balm Nude 'tude palette is a product I have wanted to try for a while so I was very excited to get my hands on it, all the shadows are super pigmented and very easy to blend. My favourite shades are Standoffish and Seductive! This is perfect for me and for summer as it's super simple and natural while still giving you options for a bolder and more dramatic look, perfect! I then finish off with some mascara, I'm currently using the Maybelline Volume Express Mascara. I then add a simple, pretty and subtle lipstick such as the Revlon Lip Butter in Strawberry Shortcake.

July 2015 Birchbox

Birchbox £12.95*

Unani Aloe Vera Gel
Benefit Dream Screen
POP Beauty Eyeshadow Palette
Balance Me Congested Skin Serum
Barely Prep, Blot and Blend Sponge
Jelly Pong Pong Glow Getter

This month's Birchbox, or should I say "Birchbag" was probably my favourite one ever, I think it was a great mix of products and there wasn't a product that I didn't like or won't use. The bag is super handy for travelling or for holidays and they come in four different colours. My favourites from this month's selection was the POP Beauty Eyeshadow Palette, the shadows are super pigmented and soft so are really easy to apply and achieve a bronzey, smokey eye. Also a great small palette to travel with as it hardly takes up any space at all! I also really like the Barely makeup sponge, I love most sponges and my beauty blender is my go to tool for applying foundation so this is great. This is quite small so you could use it on your face, however I think it works really well to blend in concealer under the eyes as it fits in the smaller section. The Jelly Pong Pong highlighter is another favourite from the bag, I much prefer cream and liquid highlighters to powder highlights and this is such a pretty and natural highlight!

The May Nailbox

I was super excited when I was asked by Nailbox if I wanted to try out one of their boxes, I have been growing my nails for the past three months and focussing on making them stronger and healthier. I also have them painted 24/7 in order to stop me picking and biting them so I couldn't pass up an opportunity to try out some new nail polishes! There are a few different options depending on how many boxes you would like to buy, you can order an annual subscription or even just have a one off box! In this box I received an Elegant Touch Cuticle Pusher which is great as it makes your nails look so much longer and neater! I received four nail polishes, Essie Status Symbol, which is a beautiful bring pink and my new favourite shade, especially for the summer. I love Essie polishes so was very excited to get this in the box. Nicole by OPI - Alex by the Books was the next one, this is very similar to Essie Mint Candy Apple, a nice, bright summery blue. Another Essie dupe is Rimmel Lucky Lilac, very similar to A Splash of Grenadine, one of my favourite shades of all time so I know I will love this! The final one is Orly - Fiery Orange, this is one I probably won't get as much use out of however it is still a lovely shade!

Overall, I love the idea of the Nailbox. I also love the fact that you get well known brands like Essie and OPI and I think you really get your money's worth with each box; perfect for nail painting lovers! You can check out their website here!
