Thoughts on Fenty Beauty

For me, Fenty Beauty has been such an impressive brand since it was first released. I think it's rare for celebrity makeup brands to actually be taken seriously rather than just be seen as a collection of products that someone has plastered their name over. I'm generally very skeptical about celebrity releases, I've not bought anything from Kylie Beauty or KKW Beauty as I don't really get the hype and I was initially the same with Fenty, that was until I researched, watched videos and read reviews. They originally launched with a few products, one of which was their Pro Filt'r Foundation, of course as soon as someone mentions the words "full coverage" I immediately pay attention. This was such a game changer for the beauty industry, a range created by a celebrity that actually catered for every skintone. For years there's been one or two shades for women with darker skin, leaving them with little choice compared to white women who are always catered for. Fenty completely changed the game and now numerous brands have followed, creating more diverse shade ranges to cater for the whole of their audience. It's a shame that there's still brands that haven't woken up and realised the need for inclusion however I feel like Fenty really made a difference within the beauty industry to allow everyone to try their products.

I tried the original Pro Filt'r Foundation when it came out, you can read my full review here.  However I've tried a few more of their products recently and am definitely going to be purchasing more. I was so excited when they announced they were launching a hydrating version of their original foundation, the Pro Filt'r Hydrating Longwear Foundation. This claims to be hydrating, medium to full coverage and longwearing which really excited me as I can get quite dry skin and need something that is going to hydrate and not cling to dry patches on my skin. I really like the consistency of this foundation, it is really hydrating and I love how it applied to my skin, personally I would say it's medium coverage as it definitely didn't cover as much as other foundations I've tried however it still gives really decent coverage. However I don't find it particularly longwearing on the skin, I do find that it comes of slightly throughout the day and if I wanted to wear it for really long periods of time then I would need to reapply. I think overall I would give this foundation a 7/10, I love the consistency on my skin and the coverage is great while looking natural and feeling lightweight however it doesn't last as long as I would like it to.

My well loved Laura Mercier Translucent Powder was running out recently so I decided to try out the Pro Filt'r Instant Retouch Setting Powder as I'd heard good things about it. I bought the shade Banana which is a yellow coloured powder, in hindsight I think I should have got the shade lighter but I can still make it work! When I first started using this, I used it to bake my makeup which didn't work too well. I found that the product clung to my skin so when I went to brush the product away, it had stuck to sections of my under eye. I've been using it for the past week or so with a powder brush and just pressing it into my skin. It gives a really nice finish, it's very matte and makes my skin look very airbrushed, hiding pores completely. This has definitely been a better way of applying it and I'm really impressed!

My favourite product for my brows is the Anastasia Brow Wiz, I'm not sure how this makes my brows look great but it just does. I ran out of it recently and also had some Boots points so decided to give the Fenty MVP Ultra Fine Brow Pencil a go. The first thing I like about this product is the brush you get with it, it's like nothing I've tried before. It's literally like a brush rather than a spoolie and I find it so much easier to brush my brows with then the usual spoolie you get with brow pencils. The actual pencil is super fine and thin meaning you can get a precise brow and imitate real brow hairs which I love however it just isn't as good as the Anastasia Brow Wiz. I find the product a lot harder than the Brow Wiz so it takes a lot more time and effort to fill in my brows whereas the Brow Wiz is softer and applies really easily. I think I will repurchase my Anastasia Brow Wiz rather than this but this is a slighty cheaper alternative so worth giving a go!

I've tried some terrible liquid liners lately, they've not been pigmented and have transfered or rubbed off throughout the day which has been really frustrating. I'd heard people rave about the Fenty Flyliner Liquid Liner and the bad reviews mainly consisted of people complaining that it wouldn't come off which is a good thing in my eyes! I've been loving this, it's really pigmented, the brush is super precise if you're doing winged eyeliner and it stays put literally all day (it is a struggle to get off)! This is slightly on the pricey side but retails at the same price as my other favourite liner, the Kat Von D Tattoo Liner so I think I would purchase this again as it's brilliant! My final purchase from Fenty is the Gloss Bomb which is one of their lipglosses, I bought the shade Fussy which is a beautiful pink shimmery shade. I love wearing this on its own or over the top of pink lipsticks, it's absolutely beautiful and smells incredible too. This is quite expensive and I believe there are cheaper alternatives which work in the same way but it was a lovely product to treat myself to!

Overall, my favourite products from Fenty are the Flyliner, the Gloss Bomb and the powder. There's not been anything I've really disliked which is quite impressive and I'm really excited to purchase some more items! I've got my eye on the highlighters so I think they'll be next on my list! Have you tried anything from Fenty that you'd recommend?
