Autumn Makeup

Recently, I've changed up my makeup slightly to make it more autumnal! I've been switching between the Mac Studio Fix Fluid and the Too Faced Born This Way foundation as those are both my favourites at the moment. I then use my Nars Radiant Creamy Concealer to cover blemishes and under eye circles and finish off with the Ben Nye Luxury Powder in the shade Cameo. For my brows, I use my favourite product, the Anastasia Beverly Hills Dip Brow Pomade to fill them in and give them more shape. On my eyes I start with the Kiko Long Lasting Stick Eyeshadow in the shade 07, this is a really pretty champagne colour that works as a nice base, I then apply Kid and Ricepaper eyeshadows from Mac. I lightly apply Kid in the crease and blend out before popping Ricepaper over the lid. I've been loving the Eyeko Fat Liquid Liner for creating thicker lines and wings at the moment as it is really pigmented and lasts all day! To finish off my eyes, I apply the L'oreal Miss Manga Mega Volume Mascara which I love for adding both length and much needed volume to my lashes! Finally, on my lips is a new Mac lipstick I bought recently. The shade is Diva and I absolutely love it, I think it's perfect for autumn and creating for vampy makeup looks!

Flawless Makeup Base

I've never had the best skin, years of acne has left my skin quite red and scarred so I've always relied on makeup to try and make it look as good as I possibly can. Recently I've found a few products that make me feel so confident and happy with how they look on my skin. I recently purchased the Too Faced Born This Way Foundation which I am absolutely loving. It's similar to something like Estee Lauder Double Wear and the L'oreal Infallible Pro Matte Foundations, really good coverage yet really lightweight on the skin. I apply it as I do with most of my foundations, with a slightly damp beauty blender and it blends flawlessly into my skin, I love the coverage as it is enough to cover my scarring really well and I don't need a ton of concealer to hid them. The concealer I use under my eyes and on blemishes is the Nars Radiant Creamy Concealer, I've used this for ages and absolutely love it! It doesn't dry my skin out, it has brilliant coverage and I find it so easy to blend in, it almost melts into my skin. I was looking for a powder to set my under eye concealer when I found the Ben Nye Luxury Powder in Cameo, the banana powder is a very well known for being used by Kim Kardashian. The banana shade looked a bit too yellow for my skin so I went with the Cameo powder. I started using this just on my under eyes to set my concealer but loved the finish it gave, so I now use it all over my face using a sponge. It makes my skin look amazing, my large pores are invisible and it just sets my makeup in place all day!

How I Style My Hair with The Nicky Clarke DesiRed Straightener

Because I have quite short hair, I either style it straight or I curl it as it's not long enough to do much else with it!  I love curling it as it makes my hair have more body and volume compared to just straightening it! I've been using the new Nicky Clarke DesiRed Hair Straightener to style my hair lately, Lydia Bright is the face of the new range which also includes a hair dryer! With the straightener, you can adjust the heat which is always a great feature depending on how thick your hair is and how much heat you like to put on your hair. To curl my hair I start by sectioning my hair into four sections as I have very thick hair. I then just use the straightener to clamp my hair, near the root and then twist and gently pull down, I call this the "ribbon method" as it's similar to the technique you use when you curl ribbons on presents! The straightener makes it really easy to curl my hair as the ceramic plates are really smooth so it doesn't tug or pull on my hair at all! It creates really pretty, sophisticated looking curls
that last really well too, I then give my hair a light spray with hair spray! You can buy the straightener at Argos here! It is currently on offer too for just £39.99, less than half price!

This month's Birchbox was super exciting as there were TWO great boxes to choose from. Both are absolutely brilliant, I slightly prefer the Back to Basics box as I think it's probably my favourite Birchbox, ever! You get TWO full size products in the Back to Basics box, the Eyeko Fat Liquid Eyeliner and the Seche Vite Dry Fast Top Coat. The Eyeko Fat Liquid Eyeliner is amazing, I've been using it everyday since I got the box and I love it. It's super black and makes it really quick and easy to apply eyeliner. The Seche Vite Dry Fast Top Coat is a product I've wanted to try for ages so I was so happy to receive the full size version. I am so impatient when painting my nails so I love using quick dry products, it's amazing to be able to paint my nails and be able to leave the house in a few minutes! Also, this gives nails a really nice shine to them as well!  Both the boxes come with a mini Bioderma too, I only use micellar waters to remove my makeup so these are perfect for me, plus they would be great to travel with!

Which box would you pick?

Get Noticed With Solopress!

I was recently contacted by Solopress and asked if I wanted to take part in their competition, the whole idea around it is getting noticed. Whether it be promoting your blog or even getting noticed for potential job opportunities! The prize for the competition is getting your billboard design, actually designed, and then put in a city of your choice. Amazing. As part of the competition, Solopress sent me a cute "Get Noticed" pack, which included business card that I designed myself, a business card holder and pencils with my blog name on! These are such great ideas to get myself out there more and try and make more people aware of me as a blogger. Today, I feel like it's very difficult to 'get noticed' in the blogging world, everyone and their mother has a blog so it can be difficult to stand out!

Onto my billboard design, I'm not very good at describing things, so I decided to design the basic idea! Obviously my blog is mainly beauty so I decided to include some nice images of makeup, it's very simple. Yet it may make people think, "why is that there?" Therefore making them feel intrigued which may lead them to finding out more. It also represents what my blog is all about, makeup! I find that some of the most simple billboards and adverts, are the ones that grab people's attention, making them want to find more information. I also added a quote, one that I definitely agree with and live by, yes I blog about makeup, yes I wear makeup but I use it as something to express myself, I don't believe you should hide behind it and it definitely doesn't define you. Even if someone didn't find out more, everyone likes reading nice encouraging quotes on their morning walk to work!

You can enter the Twitter version of the competition here.

YSL Nude Beige

YSL Rouge Volupte - Nude Beige £26

If I had to only own lipsticks from one company; it would be YSL. I only own two of their lipsticks because they cost a small fortune however I adore both of them, the consistency, the smell, the packaging.. Everything about them is lovely, they feel so luxurious and the packaging is sophisticated and beautiful. While bored in my lunch break a few weeks ago, I was swatching lipsticks. Did I need a new lipstick? No. Did I want one? Yes. As soon as I picked this one up and looked in the bullet, I knew it was the perfect shade for me. A pretty pink, not too blue toned, not too nude, perfect. I knew I had to have it. The consistency of the YSL Rouge Volupte's (and Rouge Volupte Shine) are SO creamy, they glide on the lips like no other lipstick I have tried. I have awfully dry lips at the best of times and especially now as I have developed the worlds worst cold where my skin and lips are cracked and dry! This lipstick doesn't accentuate the dryness, you can barely see it. The one down side of a lipstick being this creamy is that it doesn't last as well as other more matte lipsticks, for me, this isn't a particularly big deal. I would much rather a lipstick look great, feel nice on the lips and not last a great deal of time than a lipstick that accentuates the dryness but lasts all day. This is a lipstick that I now keep in my bag 24/7 as it's the perfect one to just throw on any when!

Wishlist

This month's wishlist is full of beauty bits that I am dying to try! Last month I tried a Too Faced product for the first time, (review coming soon) it's a brand I had heard of but never really looked into. Since buying the Born This Way foundation, I've found a few more items I would really love to try, one being the Chocolate Bar palette. It's a neutral palette so obviously I'm interested, but the shadows look so lovely and exactly the kind of shades I love to use. I have also been after the Charlotte Tilbury Airbrush Flawless Finish Powder, I have used this before and LOVED it but decided to try something else, however I really would love to repurchase it as it is such a lovely product!

When it comes to shoes and boots, autumn/winter is my favourite. I love buying boots in particular. I spotted these beautiful tasselled black heeled boots from Red Herring. They are very simple but the tassel detailing is really pretty and they would go with so many different outfits! Lately I've been getting into properly contouring my face, I have been watching countless youtube videos on how to "bake" your makeup and I've been looking at translucent powders to do this in the best way. I have heard SO many great things about the Laura Mercier Translucent Powder and would really love to try it! We all know I love pretty much anything by Anastasia Beverley Hills and on Cult Beauty they recently got the illuminators! I've seen these on a few bloggers already and they look STUNNING, I will definitely pop this on my Christmas list....if I don't cave and purchase before!

OPI Colour Paints Blendable Nail Lacquer

This OPI colour paints set is a really exciting product, especially for me as I love experimenting with my nails and doing nail art. In the set, you get six colours which includes the silver "base coat" which you use as the canvas for the designs. You could either use the nail polishes on their own, which I think works well as they are great quality or you can create all kinds of designs, like the ones on the packaging. I think the ones on the packaging are AMAZING, I went with a slightly easier stripe design using three of the colours which was really simplistic but looks really nice! The great thing about these polishes is that they are a really great consistency, they are quite thin but the colour payoff is phenomenal. They also dry very quickly, which is perfect for me as the one thing I hate to do, is wait for nail polishes to dry! The thin consistency also means that it is really easy to create the designs as you don't end up applying may too much polish and creating a gloopy mess, you get a really lovely, neat looking design! The set retails for £19.95 however you can get it for £14.95 here! I had a lot of fun playing around with the different designs and creating pretty patterns, it would be perfect for someone who loves nail art!
